Medication

It came up in a mindful conversation last night about the merit of anti depressants…Firstly, I would like to clarify that a mindful approach to life is one of acceptance and of allowing the flow whilst remaining aware…Medication can have a part to play when our system is in a chronic and heightened stress response and we feel disempowered and non-resourceful due to the heaviness of the energy of powerlessness…Powerlessness encompasses #grief#depression#despair#PTSD and often when we are feeling these feelings, they feel consuming because they trigger old thought patterns and stories that keep the cycle of fear in a perpetual fight/flight trigger. So, firstly, BE KIND TO YOURSELF! These traumatic, consuming emotions require us to ask for help…sometimes from our own spirit, sometimes the universe, the natural world, our friends, family and sometimes … medication. The mindful response is non-judgement. Accept the tablets, if it feels like support, because the alternative is that we often drop into our old patterns which can be self-harming behaviours like overeating, drinking alcohol to excess, taking drugs to oblivion, gambling for the high etc. We are all doing and being our best so when the old programming and conditioning starts to disconnect you from the present moment, pause and ask for help…then listen, stay aware and awake for the answer. And if the answer for you, is a short term prescription, approach it with love, embrace it as a friend helping you – knowing that you don’t want dependency on that friend but you want to feel better. Nothing is forever and every chapter of our lives passes so embrace the help with an open heart and mindful awareness – this life is meant to be joyful! Sending love to all of you that took the time to read this and all of those who are living this right now – medication is not a long term solution but it can provide a helping hand – much more powerful and important though is how we feel about it and ourselves, may we like ourselves enough to choose love, may we rise up in love!
